Beach Volleyball Trivia
- The Lighthouse Beach Bash volleyball tournament enjoyed its inaugural tournament in the Comox Valley in July of 2008. The tourney brought pro-level beach volleyball to the island thanks to the efforts of local athlete Martin Reader.
- In professional leagues, the style and size of bikinis worn by female players is strictly enforced to a petite size for viewing pleasure. (There are no such rules in our league, but wear what you're comfortable in.)
- The sport originated in Hawaii and was popularized in California.
- Beach volleyball originally came about as something for surfers to do while waiting for the waves to be just right. It grew in popularity from there.
- Beach volleyball has grown so much in popularity that countries which traditionally don't have beaches, like Switzerland, have built them.
Beach Volleyball
Few things say summer like soft sand, brilliant sunshine and some sweet co-ed recreational beach volleyball action.
Dig out the shades, slap on some sunscreen and come enjoy some of the best beach volleyball courts that Vancouver Island has to offer. We can find a slot for all skill levels to make the games fun, and regardless of how good you are (or are not), summer is meant to be spent in the sand!
Beach volleyball games are played at Comox Valley's Standard Park courts and are open to players from Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, Campbell River and surrounding areas. See you out on the sand!
Registration
Click on the applicable icon below to register and pay league fees for a team or an individual. To register a small group, each player completes an individual registration and notes their friends in the "friends" box. We'll take care of you from there. Have fun!
Subs: Those who miss the registration deadline can also contact us to be put on the spares list, though with no guarantee of playing.
